- Start slow and build up to a more energetic trot
- Ride without stirrups. Safety first make sure you create a safe environment when trying this exercise. Dom recommends having your horse on a lunge line and in an enclosed area before dropping your stirrups
- Ride without reins and without stirrups. Again safety first make sure you are in a safe environment before you try this exercise.
Wait until you have a good trot to try the canter transition.

The Mental Side of Dressage with Will Rogers, Anna Blomgren & Rasmus Bagger. This is a great example of cross platform training. My favorite was the Sumo wrestlers :). What I think is important about this is that good ground training and dressage can be combined for amazing results. When people open their minds up they can learn how to apply new skills and combine old methods and ultimately end up with a super tractable horse.
Quarter in is used to get control of the inside hind foot. He illustrates this dressage movement on the ground and mounted. He illustrates and explains how controlling the footfalls of your horse and how it is applied in a military setting. When he puts this dressage training in context it makes complete sense.
